I am checking the barrel. The 15 series is said to be a great model, but it is old and prone to problems. The barrel needs to be checked for wear on the top and bottom of the grooves and the top and bottom receiving holes.
I even assembled the time mechanism. The 15 series uses a gear called a second pinion for the second hand. It is a small gear in the center, and was also used by Omega and IWC at the same time. If the pressure of the spring that holds down the second pinion is not adjusted, the hand will jump, so care must be taken.
This is the back side. This model is an Oyster Date, and although it is not marked as a Datejust, the calendar jumps just right. Sometimes, whether it is a Date or Datejust, the calendar does not jump exactly. This particular model did not jump either, so I adjusted the date wheel to make it just right.
Attach the dial and hands. The dial will discolor over time. The navy blue dial will discolor easily, but it will have a nice vintage feel when placed in a case. The dial can be replaced if you look for the parts, but second-hand parts are becoming more expensive every year. Depending on the model, a single hand can cost tens of thousands of yen.
I have it cased.
