OMEGA Speedmaster Professional overhaul

Omega Speedmaster Professional: Caliber 1861

Symptoms: Immobility (spring broken)

Repair contents: Overhaul, spring and gasket replacement, case and bracelet cleaning

Repair cost: 33,000 yen

This is an overhaul of an Omega Speedmaster Professional. It is a relatively compact chronograph with a long history of movement manufactured by Lemania. The caliber is 1861 and is rhodium plated, but the number and plating color change depending on the year.

The mainspring has broken. Whether it is a hand-wound or automatic watch, the mainspring will break when it breaks. There is not much difference between winding it all the way up or winding it partway up to prevent it from breaking. In the case of a hand-wound watch, the accuracy will be more stable if you wind it all the way up. However, we do not recommend winding it all the way up several times a day.

Assemble after cleaning. This movement is sturdy and durable, but the accuracy seems to be somewhat wide. It is not chronometer rated, and it seems to be designed mainly for sturdiness rather than accuracy.

We even assembled the chronograph mechanism. Some older chronographs have problems connecting the chronograph runners to the minute recorder, but this caliber is designed to prevent such problems.

This is the back side (dial side). There is no rust, of course, but also no scratches, probably because this was the first time the watch was overhauled. It is a very beautiful watch.

The dial and hands are attached. We will then case the watch and perform a running test. The Speedmaster Professional movement is sturdy, but there are many of them, so there are individual differences. If any parts need to be replaced, we will quote you separately.

This is a model for which we receive many requests for overhauls, so we hope this information will be helpful for your repair needs.
