Jaeger-LeCoultre Overhaul of the Futurematic and Reverso

Hello everyone! This is No from Matsuno Watch Shop.

It's a bit strange for our company's blog, but we only look at the number of hits when we write an article. Because we think that no one will see it anyway (that's an exaggeration, but it's close).

However, recently it was introduced on a certain godly blog (I read that blog every day) and the number of hits has increased. It's doubled . The blog owner said that he doesn't have any fans, but it seems that there are a lot of fans of springs. Including me.

I am grateful for the tedious work I have been given and the introduction of new shops, something I could never have imagined just a few months ago. When I think about it, the internet is amazing.

Some people request repairs after reading our blog, which can only be described as mediocre, and we have even made connections with major watchmakers in Tokyo. Well, it's fine to update the blog every once in a while. Only a sage could update it every day. And in the early hours of the night. A blog that's updated in the early hours of the morning that you check when you wake up in the morning.

So why is a pigeon man suddenly appearing? ... I'm not really thinking about keeping a pigeon teacher either these days. Thank you for the introduction! I don't appreciate the introduction in relation to repairing winding bracelets! Uhhhh.

Now that we've got that out of the way (?), today we'll be looking at the Jaguar. The Jaguar.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Cal.497 Futurematic

This is a LeCoultre Futurematic. I think I introduced this model quite some time ago, but I can't remember when. As you can see in the first photo, the minute hand has fallen off.

Apparently several repair shops have refused to repair it, but that may be because the parts are almost not in circulation. Of course, there are no new needles. For now, I'll work on it, thinking that it might be okay if I can get the needle to attach.

It stuck

Since the automatic winding mechanism is a half-rotor type, you have to shake the watch many times to wind it. You have to do it back and forth with a lot of force. This naturally puts a strain on the hands, and although they won't fall off immediately, they will fall off over time.

This is a structural thing, so to some extent it can't be helped. It doesn't have a manual winding mechanism, so it tends to move like that when you try to wind it, but it was made in a different era. I hope you can enjoy your time with it. The pinholes have been filled to make it less likely to come off.

Disassembled

We will also be overhauling the watch. It is a rather strange movement, with a half-rotor design that is not seen in other brands.

Assemble from the back

Generally, or maybe it's just me, but usually you start assembling from the front. This movement is easier to assemble from the back, so I'll start from that side. I think I introduced the whole thing last time (but I forgot), so this time I'll talk about the power reserve.

Power Liza, about halfway up the volume

This photo shows the front part assembled and the spring wound about halfway. You can see the teeth of the comb-shaped sickle part meshing with the gear. The teeth of the comb are about in the middle.

The gear that is engaged has a power lifter needle that indicates the remaining amount of the mainspring (approximately). The further down the teeth go, the more wound the mainspring is. Does anyone know? Well, it's the amount of winding that moves these teeth that determines the amount of winding of the mainspring...

Incense box

You may think that I'm still continuing with the confusing explanation, but I don't think there are many people who are interested, so I guess it's okay. This is the state of the first volume 0.

When wound up

The plate on the edge of the barrel rises. The up and down movement of this plate drives the power supply. It's amazing. Yes, it's getting more and more tedious. Just kidding.

However, if the watch is wound too much, the plate may rise too high and cause the watch to stop. This varies depending on the barrel settings, so the watch is designed with a certain amount of leeway. Therefore, the power display is only a guide.

Crown circumference

The crown of the Futurematic is on the back, so naturally it is easy for moisture to get in. Some parts are rusted, but there are no replacement parts, so I will remove as much rust as possible.

This is the limit. Be careful of humidity.

Attach it to the rear cover and put it in the casing. Um, I don't have any photos. Why?! I'd feel a bit frustrated if there were no photos of the finished product. But there aren't any. Sorry. I think it will cost about 30,000 yen for an overhaul.

If you go back to the beginning of the blog, you can see a photo of the finished product (before disassembly)! (That's not it.) I'm currently running a test run, and I think it might be better to wind it on your arm rather than on a winding machine. Thank you for using it!

Suddenly after disassembly

This is also a Jaguar Reverso. Jaguar. There is nothing wrong with it, just regular maintenance.

Winding the mainspring

It is difficult to obtain not only the mainspring but also the LeCoultre watch, so I cleaned it and installed it. There are few mainsprings in circulation these days. Even if you can find vintage ones, they are expensive. I wonder if someone will make them.

It's finished!

It was completed without any particular problems. What I want to introduce about the Reverso is not the movement but the case.

Assemble the rotating case

The Reverso is known for its swivel case to prevent the crystal from cracking when riding a horse or doing other sports.

It's very stylish. He turns the watch over while riding a horse. What an annoying aristocrat. I don't know if he's an aristocrat or not, but the case structure seems like it would be impossible to put back together if you took it apart without understanding it. The front and back covers look like Gold Lightan.

Up and down springs

This spring-like part is supposed to slide inside the case. But that's what it's supposed to do. I removed it for the sake of the photo. It's not a mistake. Seriously.

The spring parts from earlier are in the case.

This is the correct answer. It's not a mistake. Let me show you the photo to make it easier to understand.

Twist

It's amazing to come up with such a structure. I think that LeCoultre's movements and cases are a little different. It's a brand that appeals to watch enthusiasts.

This Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso will cost about 25,000 yen + tax for an overhaul. Thank you for using our service! Depending on the model, LeCoultre may have to be repaired by the manufacturer. Feel free to ask for a quote! Old man, muni muni sahayaku! (?)

Today, I was just daydreaming in the park after lunch when I was stopped by the police. "Hello~" "Can I talk to you for a second?" I wondered what it was, was it a religion, and turned around to see three police officers.

I was stopped by the police a long time ago when I was a surfer at the beach, but what could I want from a man in his 40s? Especially in the middle of the day. "I need some medicine"...Do you have any? I always have stomach medicine in stock.

They checked my whole body, and then they took out my bag and the puncture kit I had attached to my bike. I didn't think, "Hey! Do I look that suspicious? There aren't many people with a baby face like that!" and just said, "I often see this kind of face on things like Police 24 Hours (lol)."

I'm glad nothing happened (or did anything happen). Thank you to the police for your hard work. We have transparent accounting. We're doing things steadily.

It starts again tomorrow, tomorrow is a holiday (probably), so I'll try my best the day after tomorrow.

See you next time. This is Nono. Adios! Police Officer
