Rolex Explorer I: Reference 14270 Caliber 3000
Symptoms: Overhaul for store-bought products
Repair contents: Overhaul, spring and gasket replacement, case and bracelet cleaning, waterproof test
Repair cost: 27,500 yen (reference price)
The Explorer I, which we introduced previously, is already listed as a product, so please take a look if you're interested.
This is the same 14270, but it is a model called "single tritium side hole". Single means that the bracelet buckle is single, tritium means that the dial and hands are tritium, and side hole means that there is a hole on the side of the case to remove the spring bar. It is a little more expensive than the regular model.
The disassembly procedure is the same as before. The balance spring of this watch was unbalanced, so I adjusted it. If you look at the balance spring in the photo, it is shifted to the left.
I adjusted the hairspring that had become uneven. It is common for hairsprings to become deformed, but this is not common in Rolex watches. The key is to identify the deformed part and correct it as quickly as possible.
Assembled
There are no other particular problems, so we will proceed to the running test.
The dial has discolored over time. A dial that has changed in this way is called a "frozen dial," and although it's a matter of personal preference, it's a watch that you can enjoy aging.
It has been cased. If you take a photo in the case, you won't be able to see the dial. I hope you'll take a look at it in person. The case has already been polished, so I just cleaned it. The bracelet has been lightly polished.
We plan to conduct a running test and then put the product on sale in stores. We will continue to provide product introductions and repair information, so we hope you will find it useful.
