Coming soon: Overhaul of ROLEX REF.6431 Oyster Speed King

Rolex Oyster Perpetual: Reference 6431 Caliber 1210

Symptoms: Overhaul for store-bought products

Repair contents: Overhaul, spring and gasket replacement, case cleaning

Repair cost: 27,500 yen (reference price)

This is a Rolex Ref. 6431 Speed King. It will be overhauled in preparation for its arrival in stores.

Disassembled

The caliber is the hand-wound 1210. It is a small but highly durable movement that was also used in the Oysterdate.

The car is being loaded.

A gear called a "center wheel" is attached to place the second hand in the center. This gear is used to turn a movement that was originally designed as a small second into a center second.

Assembled

It has a simple structure as it is a hand-wound three-hand watch.

Beat Error Adjustment

Since the beat error of this movement cannot be easily adjusted, the balance spring is turned directly. Since the balance spring is made of blue steel, magnetism is strictly prohibited.

Tuscan car adjustment

The hour hand is made by a gear called a "tsutsukana wheel." If this gear is loose, the time display will not work properly and a "set misalignment" will occur. As shown in the photo, the cylindrical gear is tightened by tapping it, but the amount of force required is very delicate.

Back side The time side has also been assembled.

Considering the year it was made ('63), it's in great condition with no rust.

Dial and needle installed

Although it is just hidden by the hands, the word "Speed King" is written under the Oyster character. The combination of the wedge index and leaf hand is a vintage design.

Casing

The case is small, about 29 mm, because it is a boys' size. Smaller models have been popular recently, but this model is also recommended for women. The sales price is expected to be around 250,000 yen. We will be conducting a running test and will be on sale in stores soon.

Thank you for your many repair requests. Please note that the overhaul will not be completed until mid-January next year. We look forward to your continued support.
